Small Group Ministry

We believe that small groups play an integral part in the ministry of the church. In essence, the church needs to be growing larger and smaller at the same time. The church should be growing larger through outreach and evangelism, but needs to be growing smaller through a small group ministry so that genuine community can take place.

The small group ministry of Calvary Baptist has its roots in discipleship groups (D-Groups) that were started by Rick Cornfield. Over the years, the make-up of the groups have changed, but the same principles have remained the same… the church body is strengthened through the fellowship that occurs through these groups.

Currently there are seven groups meeting in homes as well as the church. In these groups you will have a wide mix of ages and Christian experience, coming together to be encouraged and strengthened in their faith. Each group devotes time to the study of the Word, prayer, sharing and fellowship. While there may seven groups at this time, each group is distinct from the others, and sets their own agenda for meeting.

Usually the groups will meet from September until June, and most of the groups meet on Sunday evenings. For more information regarding Small Group Ministries, please contact the church office.
